Is it the case that you either do not have a Dutch birth certificate or never registered your foreign birth certificate in the Netherlands? You can also submit an application if you only have a foreign birth certificate. Please feel free to contact us if you have any doubts.

If you only have a foreign birth certificate, we ask you to supplement your application with a declaration from a BIG-registered doctor as well as proof that you have lived in the Netherlands. This could consist of a postal item with your (former) address printed on it, proof of registration or a copy of a residence permit. What should be demonstrated is a link between your name and a residential address in the Netherlands. This shows that you had a long-term connection with the Netherlands in the period 1985–2014.

In this case, you do not need a Dutch citizen service number, a Dutch bank account number or a DigiD.
